Challenges at GDS

So today I have 2 more layouts I did for the GDS Junkie Challenge.  This challenge is to be done with GDS kits.  The first layout is called *Coffee Time* and is made using JJ Scrapping's portion of the *Springy* collab Kit.  The photo is of my sister enjoying a delicious cup of *not Starbuck's* coffee at a sidewalk cafe in Port Angeles WA.

The second is a layout I did by mistake.  It was done using a mini kit of all desaturated papers and elements and we are to recolour them, which I did, however I forgot to use the palatte I said I would use for that challenge!  So now I have to do it again using the correct palette for that challenge! LOL Silly me! The good news is, I really like what I did and so therefore entered it in the Junkie Challenge instead. This is a photo of my niece Cecelia. I just think this is such a darling shot of her!

Dad had a Green Thumb

This is a layout I did for a Speed Scrap over at GDS today.  It was the last Speed Scrap with retiring designer *Dancing Princess* and we were all so sad about that! Her designs were awesome! The good news is, that she's only just stopped designing and will still be active in the forums! Yippee!! .. So anyway.. the layout is about my Dad.. The Speed Scrap was supposed to be about saying good-bye but as I don't like good-byes, I just made a layout about one of the things he like doing best which was gardening.  Here it is using the kit *Minty Crispy* by JJ Scrapping:

The other layout I finished today was for Round 3 of the Supreme Team Competition.  I'm not 100% satisfied with it but I uploaded it anyway.  It's really not my style of layout but somehow I just couldn't come up with anything else.  I surely don't consider this to be anywhere near one of my best layouts.  Having said that, it's done and uploaded! The little girl in the layout is me when I was about 3 or 4. Here it is using a collab kit by FWTS and JJ Scrapping called *Springy*

Happy Valentines Day Sweet Heart!

I made this layout for my DH (Dear Husband).  We were visiting my family in Canada and went to Piper's Lagoon in Nanaimo, BC.  They have a little island there with huge Gerry Oaks on it and they had the most amazing patterns in the bark! There's a whole history about that area which is fascinating.  More info about Pipers Lagoon here .

I made the layout for a Word Art Challenge at GDS using Dylabel Designs Kit *Tweet Tweet* which is so versatile and jam packed with all sorts of elements and papers! Get yours NOW.

My Mother and Me

I love the photo! I used a great new collab kit by Dylabel Designs and Dancing Princess called Dipsy Doodle and now available at here in the GDS store on SALE for a short time only !

The Difference between 72 dpi and 300 dpi

Are you ever confused between the different dpi of photos and the relationship to size and resolution? .. This blog site "fotolia blog" has a great explanation that everyone should have a look at.  The following is a quote from the blog site:

"DPI stands for dots per inch. In the printing world 300 DPI is commonly used to create sharp beautiful images at a specific size. Many misunderstand that if the digital file does not say 300 DPI that the file is too small or it is less sharp. This misunderstanding is amplified by using programs like Adobe Photoshop where a customer may view a file that says 72 DPI however, the file is very large and perfect for printing. While DPI is important the more important measure of a digital file are the pixel dimensions. The combination of the DPI and pixel dimensions determines the actual printing or document size."

I encourage you to have a good look at the site!

So today we played Scrabble and I amazed myself by winning both games! I am not a speller but I was lucky!

I have a few layouts I'd like to share.  These layouts were made with a wonderful new kit by Dylabel Designs called Zoom Zoom and is available at the GDS Store here
It's got 11 bright primarly coloured papers and 40 terrific elements all great for the big or small man in your life!

My husband and I attended the regional car rallys and they were hot and dusty!  In this layout, I tried to make the photos look as though they were in review mirrors.  I think the effect came out rather good.

Another one - This is my son at age 2 and half.  The bit where he's leaning over the hood I got from a photo of him leaning into the clothes dryer! He was being goofy and we got it on film! It worked out good for this layout!

Photobucket

Last one - This is of my son Dean who just thought Garfield was the cat's meow!

Check back as I'll be offering a cluster frame and Quick Page freebie.

Ok So this is the first post and as I get the hang of this I'll add more.  Today was a weird day! Started out overcast but since we had my hubby's uncle staying, we decided to go for a picnic! We went out to a place we thought would be good but the last floods seemed to have washed the picnic tables away! So we decided to check out a place that was supposed to have picnic tables and a short walk to some waterfalls.  We got there ok but it started to rain so we didn't walk to the falls, we just quickly made our lunch on the back of the tail gate and sat in the cab to eat! On the way back we encountered heavy rainfall on our 21 kilometer curvy drive back! At least it was all downhill LOL.  Ok.. So I'll .. moving right along.. I'll check in later.
